On September 28, 2011, the drop box was obtained by Detectives with the Horry County Police Department’s Narcotics and Vice Section and provided by the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators. The box is designed for people to drop off their expired and/or no longer needed medication. The box was installed in the main hallway just outside of the Police Department at the M.L. Brown Public Safety Building at 2560 N. Main St. in Conway. It is made available for the public during normal business hours for people to drop off their unused/unwanted prescription pills.
From the day it was installed, until December 31, 2011, Narcotics and Vice Detectives have collected, processed and destroyed 88.07 lbs. of various medications.
The Horry County Police Department would like to thank the people we serve in this County for their participation in this program to help our efforts in keeping prescription pills off the streets.
